Hi,
I am unable to complete a Win2k Pro install on a SuperPower Motherboard (6XV-133) with a Samsung SV2044D 20g HD on IDE Primary Master, and a 52x generic CD on IDE Primary Slave. (I am unable to get the CD to boot when moved to the IDE Secondary Master - strange).
Errors usually happen when copying files to the HD during setup. Different files will be reported bad, and if it does make it to the part where the GUI loads, it will usually find "disk errors". Sometimes, during the disk check in the begining of the Setup, it will report "setup detected errors and you must reboot" (i know its finding problems with the drive). Then setup will get a little further next time, but will still error out. I even had a Stop error (0xC2, Bad_Pool_Caller) once, and errors like "file \i386\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded- error code is 32768" and strange errors like that...
I have replaced the HD already with Samsung. I used both an ATA-66 (80wire40pin) connector and a normal 40pin cable, so I doubt its the cable now.
The BIOS is AWARD v4.51pgm A.3 7/26/99 with VIA 82C691 rev67 Chipset.
The only thing I can think of is that something in the BIOS/Chipset isn't set properly, or can't handle the drive with Win2k.
The only info I found on that motherboard is a BIOS flash with a date of 1/18/2000, but no documentation - so I don't know if this BIOS flash will help or hurt this motherboard.
Also - how can I flash the chipset, if thats possible?
Thanks!
Jason
