Does that mean that it doesn't come with anything except the bare drive itself? Where do I get the drivers?

buy a decoder card or use a software decoder like powerdvd which I use and like it very much

I'm planning on using software because it would be a waste of a system otherwise: 800mhz P3, 128mb RAM (soon 384) and 64mb Geforce2 GTS http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

What about drivers for it? I do need those, right?

your OS should already have the drivers, just pop in the drive and start it up

the drive will work as a cd-rom and for the dvd to work either a decoder card or a software version which will eliminate the need for a decoder card..here is a decoder card for sale

The best software decoders are WinDVD and PowerDVD, unless you have an ATI video card. In that case, use ATI's software DVD player which comes on the ATI installation CD. Just make sure you get the latest version of whichever one you select since the newer versions are considerably improved over older versions.
