My computer seems to eat mice alot ,I am on my fourth in 12months. What seems to happen is that everything seems to bleed through, you click on something and something else opens. I am using a 4D optical mouse. help:confused:

Reddwarfau, are you replacing the mouse with the same type of mouse each time, if you are you might want to try a different type mouse. Good Luck:)

That wouldn't be a hardware problem. If your mouse pointer on the screen moves when you move the mouse, and things happen when you press the buttons, your mouse is working perfectly fine.
If you get unexpected results after clicking or double-clicking, that would be a software problem. First off, scan for virii by using the latest virus scanner with the latest updates. If that doesn't find anything, update your mouse driver. This is basically the program that converts the movements of the mouse to interact with the operating system. The most drastic measure could be backing up important data and reinstalling your operating system.
Perhaps someone else could help pinpoint the problem, or has known of it happening before?
I have heard that direct sunlight can create havoc with optical mice...also clear mice. If the issue seems to happen in direct sunlight I suggest you try to move to the shade.

You should try Microsoft's Trackball Optical.
Since they can't make software in conditions, I'm surprised with it :-)
