Have 128megs PC100. Heard it doesn't do much good to go any higher unless you are doing some intense projects, example: Solidworks (cad), large spreadsheets, etc. ?
Using Win. 98 SE
Celeron 700@875MHz
Abit BE6
Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have a polling question about polls. I see "polls" here all the time. What do people do with these polls? Is someone keeping up with all the polls? Should there be a polling forum?
Home Systems:
1. 1GB PC-100 (256MB x 4)
2. 384MB PC-100 (128MB x 3)
3. 256 PC-133 (256MB x 1)
"Polling Forum" sound like a good idea, don't know either what ppl do with those polls, but everybody has a right to post whatever he wants ... Socalgal > for u http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

256 mb PC133 (2x128) in a Duron 650@850/A7V system running Win98 retail. I noticed a considerable difference upgrading to 256 from 128.....especially with the webcam.....no more lockups, and everything runs smoother.

Steve ~ Polls are fun! And they can be useful and helpful; i.e., if someone sees another with the same system hardware or software, one can query the other for information or troubleshooting regarding same.

I have a question, if a MB is rated for say 256*megs of ram max, what would happen if you put say, 2 256meg sticks in it?
*I said 25meg instead of 256 =p)

Hey X-ray.....
I had 128+32. So I had 160 in total. Well, one day, 4x256 Dimms came along at "The Right Price" if you know what I mean. I had to get a new Mobo to suppoort that amount of ram, so I kept the 128 + the 2x 256`s.
In case you wondering, I bought 4x 256mb dimms for £200 (about $360). Sold 2 to my bro. I figured 650mb ram would be plenty for me!
Besides, I`m a fair guy! I thought my bro could do with 512mb in his system, and I`ve still got more than him http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Hee hee, he`s only got 2 dimm slots, and I`ve got 3!
BTW, according to System Monitor in windows, my swap file doesn`t even get used! Yes, it is enabled! I guess in something really intensive it would, but I`ve been monitoring it for a few days and have yet to see it be used.
TD.
