OK I disabled Norton because my CAD package vendor said it interfered with program exit etc.

Then I got bit by a virus. Soooo I had to reformat my C drive (I learned long ago to place all data files on a separate physical drive so that when windows falls on its sword it doesn't do any collateral damage) and reinstall w2k.

Evidently, I must have had a false start and then a succesful install as now my system shows two bootable w2k partitions. Of course only one of them works. I've checked the computer managment stuff under administrative tools but can't find any partition management stuff.

Any recommendations on removing this extra partition?

Thanks

I doubt that it's an extra partition. It's probably just a false boot string.

Go to System properties in Control Panel > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Edit. Remove the false line (look carefully!) and save it.

Done.

Hmmm, didn't get that edit option in my copy of w2k. However I unchecked the box that had the choice posted for 30 seconds and now it goes striaght thru the boot process without waiting for user intervention.

Thanks!

Oops. Mixed you up with WinXP.

Edit the BOOT.INI file on your C: drive. It may be hidden. Change it's attributes to remove READ ONLY first. Now open it and edit out your line.
