In the mid 90's I bought pc-cilan 95 AV software that ended up being plauged by errors, upgrades and patches, not to mention the number of site changes for definition updates. I ended up throwing the disk off the balcony then. I bought Norton sys works.
After buying Asus m/b in the spring, the cd had pc-cilan AV software that I installed and I thought it worked fine. I would scan all my downloads, scan the whole system a couple of times a week, and update regulary. Yesterday I updated the virus file scanned and it checked out ok, I decided to uninstall and replace with Nortons anti virus. It found 19 infected files with 3 types of virii. Could be a new virus I thought, so I checked at the Nortons site and this virus has been around since Sep-00 with a varient I also had, out in Nov. This puppy is going over the balcony too (the pigeons can have it - tehehe)
It now makes me think that it's possible a virus screwed up my IBM hd that I'm waiting for warranty to replace.
A clear message for me, make sure you got a good AV app.
