does anyone have a rough idea of how big a absoloute minumim install of win2kserver would take up i want to find out before i do this im going to install win2k server onto but i want to image the drive now this is a book pc with one of those half height cd roms that cost a fortune but i can switch out the floppy for a 250Mb zip drive i have and put just enough of the os on there so the nic works and i can do program installs and everything else thru the network like i usually do
also if anyone knows where i can get a half cd-rom that isnt rediculously over priced let me know

This link shows the basic MS specs (but they are vague)... http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/guide/server/sysreq/default.asp
Quoted from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/win2000/win2ksrv/technote/instw2ks.asp ...
One or more hard disks where %systemroot% (C:\WINNT by default) is located on a partition with at least 671 MB of free space (2 GB is recommended).

those are kind of vauge as you said but that 671Mb is probably with swap space and i dont have win2k pro so im just wondering if anyone remembers how big there install was when they put server on there comp i think i may just have to put it in 2 zip disks and does anyone now of a program that will take all the files on the computer which will only be the windows install, drivers and the proxy and firewall program tat only total 2 megs i think i have seen a norton program that will do this mostly i see it with a bootable cd but as i said i have no cd-rom in this comp i know that i cna get a win 98 install down to about 175 megs i assume that server is bigger but im not sure by how much

The I386 file on my 2000 server cd is 317mgs but may be able to be trimmed a bit. But if you have a Network then install I386 on another computer, make a network boot floppy and install over the network.

i did read about how you could do a network install for it but the reason i want to do this is so that i can basically make a restore disk so that the computer will be 100% functional with drivers and my 2 programs
