Creative Personal Cinema remote

Struggling to get the remote to work on my Creative Personal Cinema - it's not the batteries, but there doesn't seem to be any response whatsoever to button presses on it.
I can't find any kind of support for this at all, so I wondered if anyone else has had similar problems?

battery contacts sometimes get flatened back into the casing, and don't make proper contact with the batteries, try using a small flat screwdriver to stretch them out a little.
