Does anyone have a recommendation on a particular laptop to buy? Also, what about a good cd copying/burning program to use with Win XP??

As far back as the Colorbook laptops, some Gateway systems had a problem where they would freeze up and not respond to cntrl-alt-del or even the power button. You had to pull the plug on them. I witnessed this happening quite a few times to Colorbooks owned by my dad's company. Now I am even seeing this problem showing up in the Pentium III Gateway desktops my university uses in our computer labs. Occasionally there's nothing to do but pull the plug (really bad in my opinion... Gateway should have learned enough to rise farther above Apple by now) BobOmega 04-19-2002, 10:31 AM i have a used HP laptop umm its an omniBooxXE3 and it works great. its not the fastest but its fine for what i need it for. rwhiteside 04-20-2002, 12:58 PM thanks for the help... i'm really liking the looks of the Toshiba notebooks. Shinta 04-20-2002, 03:23 PM toshiba laptops are kinda pricey for old style T_T if you want the best bang for your buck.. take a look at compaq i have a couple of compaq laptops i use for school/work and i haven't had any problems with them at all try sony if you want an ultra slim laptop but keep in mind.. the slimmer the laptop.. the slimmer your wallet lol kazuza 04-26-2002, 07:27 PM I believe it was Toshiba who just released a Tualatin, int the thinest laptop ever! What for do you want CD-ROM and floppy drive? ? Goto ASUS :-) Bizkitkid2001 04-26-2002, 10:08 PM I know a lot of people don't like them but my step-dad has a Compaq laptop he uses for work and he has had no problems with it. He never brings it home because his work also bought him a new compaq desktop with XP 1900+ in it, so I never get to use his laptop to see how it performs. But if it can do back ups and server downloads and very intense programing all day every day without it even freezing then I think it should be a good laptop. SysOpt.com
