Ive been troubleshooting my pc since the day i got it home.i just found out (I know, I know) That the Abit board only supports 2x agp and the Asus card is 4x agp. I flashed the BIOS on the board, everything was fine until i installed office. When i rebooted, I got 1 long, followed by 2 short beeps which indicates video failure. I threw in a P.O.S. Trident PCI card and the machine ran like a champ ( not the video) but NO crashing etc...
SO, obviously one of them has to go. I am going to try and get a POST off of a board that supports 4x with the said Vid card. If it wont POST,I guess the $300 card is shot.
And seeing that the board only supports 2x AGP are there any geforce 4x that can be jumpered to 2x so that when it comes time for a new board,I can still use it?
OR a good 4x agp MOBO w/4 IDE channels (=8)

that make any sense?...sorry but Im really frustrated that the guy who sold this to me failed to mention the incompatibilty (board and card, same transaction)

i have been looking at GeForce cards lately, and most support 2x/4x AGP speed.

A 4x card is backwards compatible with 2X. It will work at 2X fine. The problem is elsewhere. I wish I could tell you where... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

Come to find out, the card is bunk. I was suspect from day one. The tham ding wont even post anymore......sending it back. Luckily the guy at the shop lent me geforce2mx to use while they send it back. I dont like this mobo anymore either. just bought an Abit VP6 . overkill, but WTH.
