investagated what size & speed ram i could use in this computer i'm working on. according to priority one support i can only use 64 meg modules up to 128 total megs, so i have one bank with two slots, so two 64's is 128 at a speed of 66mhz, so why does com. only show 32? and any suggestions of how i can get it to show and use 128. i tried msconfig ...advanced tab it was limited to 32 so changed it to 128,but it did'nt work when i checked it again it was back to 32...........so i took the ram back to store and got more....... same thing is there a setting somewhere else that limits the ram or mabe in the system setup?
w/95 upgraded to 98SE
packard/bell.....200mhz processor w/ MMX tech.
had 24 meg of ram orginally
3.2 gig harddrive

1. How many memory slots do you have
2. If you setup 2 slots and it shows 32Mb then each one of memory sticks is 16Mbs

Not sure this is your problem or that it will help you but.....
A few years back I ordered 32 MB of memory from a well know web site. I gave them my IBM memory number and they sent the module. I installed it the open slot in my IBM with 32 MB of existing memory. After starting the computer it showed I had only a total of 48 MB. I called the people that I bought it from, they assured me it was the right module for my computer and that it must be bad. They sent another module... the same thing, only showed a total of 48 MB... I requested a refund and then ordered from another company. The new memory was OK and my computer showed 64 MB.:)

Certian mother boards will only take certen brands of memory. Go to the manufactuers website and check out there ram listings table, which most likely they should have. But there is always the posiablity it could be damaged or you gor ripped.

Ive recently run into two machines that will not accept more than 64 megs of ram unless you went into the bios.where there was a option to add larger megs of ram. One machine would not boot up with a stick of 256 had to take it out go into the bios and then I could add it good luck
