I've just bit the bullet and forked out more money than I can afford on a new computer.

After installing my graphics card, I went to Nvidia's web site to see about getting some new drivers. Am I right in thinking that drivers are independant of the hardware I run them on? (ie the same Detonator XP drivers would work on a Geforce 2MX as a GeForce4Ti4600?)

FYI I installed the graphics card first before the rest of my kit arrived:

Old system

Ancient Mobo
192mb 100mhz RAM
PII o/c 468mhz

New system

MSI K3 Ultra ARU
256mb 333mhz DDR RAM
Athlon XP 1800

So I put the card into my Old system, and guess what? 4000 on 3D Mark 2001, and I ran Serious Sam 2 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein on MAX settings 1600 x 1200 with NO slowdown at all! This really is a mighty card.

It also makes me think: the jump in processor is one hell of a buffer to allow for tomorrow's games isn't it? What will be the next thing to come out to put a strain on this setup?

Sorry - don't mean to boast, Im just chuffed to bits :D :D :D
