Will new Celeron 800 MHz, which sheduled to launch at January, 3rd, support "old" 100 FSB mobos, like i440BX, or will require new ones ? The question for me is just theoretical, since I'm pure AMD user http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
btw, Happy New Year !!!

I see no reason why not. It's essentially what the 533A was a year ago. I'm wondering if these will go to a 133 Mhz FSB just as well as the 533A went to a 100 Mhz FSB... Hmmmm...

Abit's BX-133 Raid Support the 800 Celeron and uses the 440bx chipset

I think yer referring to the 566 not the 533. At least thats the one I bought due to the high overclockability to 850. Maybe the 533 was too I'm not sure. Anyways, as far as the question about the OC ability of the new 800, keep yer eye on overclocking sites, they'll be the first to know.

Just a thought, I dun think the Intel Celeron @ 100FSB can surpass the performance of the Duron's, but at least the performance difference is marginally cut-down, and hopefully AMD would release some faster versions of their Durons.. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

The 533A (NOT the 533) was the first Celeron to be built on the coppermine core. They were notorious for making 100 Mhz FSB. If you go to www.overclockers.com (http://www.overclockers.com) and check their CPU database, you'll see that most of them are running at 800+ speeds. And yes, Wilan Wong is right. The duron would waste the Celeron mostly because of the FSB. I don't plan on building any Intel systems for a while (until Intel is making good chips for the $$$, specifically).
... and the Coppermine architecture [cB0 stepping] was developed for 1GHz performance. None of them will go much faster than about 1.05GHz without aggressive cooling. The cC0 is targeted at 1.13GHz, but production has been delayed for two quarters.
Szech, and everybody else, I think u guys didn't understand me right ...
New 800 MHz Celeron will actully be the first Celeron which will use natural 100 MHz FSB, not overclocked from 66 MHz, but initial 100, with potential overclockability, of coz ...
