OK guys, posting a poll to find out what client people are using to crunch their seti@home work units.
let me know if you're using something different than what I have listed and I'll try to get it added to the poll.

Why not put your PC's idle time to good use by downloading the seti@home client HERE (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/windows.html) and then joining the Sysopt.com Users 2002 Team HERE (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/cgi?cmd=team_lookup&name=Sysopt.com+Users+2002)
UPDATE: Ask users here about the command line client. its not nearly as pretty but its much faster :D

Command line only with -verbose command to view progress. Took 4:26 to do that first unit, running in the background while surfing, chatting, playing Mp3s and playing Quake III, Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat.
Thats on my Athlon XP 1600+ w/ 512 DDR and Windows XP.
On my Pentium Pro 200 mhz 128 SDRAM and Win2k it takes about six times as long :(. Pwned.

I use an old (obviously!) util called SetiBuffer with the cmd line client on my dual system and a couple of other systems here at home.
I'm stuck with a laptop at work, and unfortunately the fan is too noisy for me to bear it's constant running in a fairly quiet office environment... so I don't run SETI at work anymore. Same, when I used to snaffle the power from a couple of Alphas and a half dozen other systems at my old workplace; ah well, I guess all good things come to an end. Maybe I'll get another dual system (or two) for home use!
Spent a fun Sunday running some network cable (it's fun going down a level in the house when you've got to contend with a suspended floor and ceiling - **** it's awkward!). At least all the systems are on the same net and can talk to the outside world now LOL!

Hi Team. Hi Vibe,
It looks like SetiHide is the most popular so far. I think it's a great program and I wish I could continue to run it, but for some reason I get Windows famous B.S.O.D. as soon as it starts, and it seems unrecoverable. I have to reboot.
I've upgraded SetiHide two times in hopes that it would fix this glitch and it still crashes. I posted in the forum provided on Oli's Webpage, but got no replies. I don't want to remove all the programs on my (father's :o ) PC. If anyone is familiar with this type of problem, send me a line.
Keep on crunching, folks!...Someone could be out there!

Try SETIbuffer if you're after an alternative. I was pleased, because it supports dual processor systems now :)

Hi, Have you just tried deleting the SETI directory and installed from scratch?? You may just have a few corrupted files that need to be wiped out.
I don't see any registry entries that would cause a problem.
I've been running the client and SETIhide for awhile now without incident, but at one time I did have a problem with winoldapp opening a bunch of times. I just dumped everything and started over.
Write back if you still have problems.

Thanks Rampage. I'll give that a try. I installed setibuffer (thanks, eFrisky), but it seems a little more complicated than I need (I'm a one-processor-at-a-time kind of guy. ;) )
Still crunching, :)
