Webmasters
Have recently been looking for some webspace. Something small, basic, and easy to use. Seems that today we dont even need to pay $9.95 /month anymore but I would like some measure of security and reliability. I don't want to use a server in some kids bedroom nor do I want the host to shut down as soon as they make their quota.
Am presently using Homesteads free service but at my limit for pages. Also would rather write my own pages than use their Sitebuilder program.
Was looking at hostcolor.com (www.hostcolor.com) and your-site.com (www.your-site.com) If you have any experiences with these or any other of the smaller web hosting services, please share them with me. Thanks :)

ADDR is a pretty cheap and good webhost
Hi there!
The problem with geocities is that they have a banner ad inside
your webpage, thats rather annoying. Browse through some
of their sites (userpages) and see for yourself.
The ones that I use, is sites like tripod.com (yes got ads, but its popup), and angelfire.com Both good hosts, and have their
own ftp clients with freehand editors for editing code on the
'fly'.
Take a look.
You can also search for 'free webhotel' on alltheweb.com
(or another search engine) and you will get a veeery long list
of sites.

Try http://www.earthlink.net I use them. They have 100% up time and are very reliable and dependable.

My webhost is ezpublishing.com I pay like $9/month for 50mb, 3POP emails, unlimited forwarding, SQL, PHP, CGI, yadda yadda. They even have a smaller plan for like $5/month. My websites are pretty graphic intense (i do web and flash work for a living), have client pass protected sites hosted on my site and still havnt used the 50MB, it goes a long way because web images are so small. Havent had any problems with them so far, referred clients to them and they have good tech support.
You can also check the net for top hosts but many of the top POWER hosts cost a lot.

I use www.virtualave.net
They're free, but they do require a banner. You can either put it on the page or choose pop-up, although I HATE popups. They host CGI, SSI, and a lot of other things. They only do FTP uploads/updates though, so you better be okay with that. Your domain is yoursite.virtualave.net, and you get free forwarding to one account, but *anything*@yoursite.virtualave.net will be forwarded there. I would recommend a sorting account if you want to use that feature. They're reliable and generally fast, but there's a 1.2MB file size limit if you need more. I just broke my files into parts.

actually :\ u can use html to get rid of the banners :-p
just add the html tag at the end of your coding:
<noembed>
Shinta they let us say stuff like that?! ;)
Anyway, I use Readyhosting (http://www.readyhosting.com) for a few sites I have. They're somehow linked (or a reseller from) 1planhost.com listed above.
It's an unbeatable deal and they're reliable in my book. You get much more than you pay for at a little over $8/mo.
