Cherokee 12-29-2000, 03:41 PM I downloaded the latest drivers from the Modem Blaster support URL and it makes no difference at all. I have all the latest drivers for the rest of my periferals. That was my first thought also but alas, no luck. Got any other suggestions? golfcart 12-29-2000, 03:51 PM I have the same modem and the same problems. Been trying to fix it for months now. It works great on a fresh format for about a month then starts acting up again. Im going to buy a different modem when i get a chance. Doesnt matter which drivers you use, they all have the problem. CMonster 12-29-2000, 03:55 PM It sounds like a resource conflict - possibly a hidden one in which Windows thinks it's okay to share an IRQ - you may need the latest drivers/BIOS for your motherboard. Try removing all child devices and the USB itself from the Device Manager and then reboot -it may be reinstalled without the resource conflict. You might also give a USB mouse a try. I have a couple of external serial Creative Modem Blasters and they work great. USB did not work for Linux at that time so I bought the serial modems. If Creative doesn't give me a really good fix, I am going to send it back to them and demand a refund...I paid close to $80 for that piece of junk just 5 months ago, and it has never worked anywhere close to as good as a standard PCI internal modem. Thanks for your input. Regards Cherokee Cherokee 12-29-2000, 04:07 PM CMonster: I just put this puter together. It is the latest motherboard from FEC. A slotA form ATX with 300w pwr supply, the latest bios from Pheonix, and I did email FEC and 3DFX about the problem and their tech support people assure me that it is not either the bios nor the graphics card interferring. But of course, there's always that chance they could be wrong. I do appreciate your input however. Regards Cherokee Cherokee 12-30-2000, 12:30 AM A few months back I purchased the Creative USB Modem Blaster and it worked fine on the Gateway 200MMX machine I had at the time. I have since upgraded with a new case, mother board [1st Mainboard AZ11 socket A ATX sized motherboard], 3DFX's Voodoo3 AGP 16 Meg graphics card, Memorex's CRW-1622 CD-RW, Iomega internal zip drive. I also have a PCI NIC card to support my Cable Modem. But now, I cannot get the darn modem blaster to work; it will dial out and connect to any isp provider I choose, but about two to three minutes into the connect process, my mouse [PS-2 port] gets real sluggish, and eventually the system locks. I have ran the microsoft's utility in which I have systematically eliminated all other TSR's, and other loaded device drivers with no luck. I have turned off my cable modem..ditto. I have reinstalled my entire OS [WIN98SE]...ditto. I am running 128 meg of 133MHz SDRAM. I have been using and configuring computers since 1992 and this one has got me stumped. Microsoft, just by the way, wouldn't even answer my online support request. Any help or suggestions will be most gratefully appreciated. I have registered a request with Creative for some technical support, but that could take weeks. Cherokee [This message has been edited by Cherokee (edited 12-29-2000).] SysOpt.com
