I just redid my computer, from WinMe, to Win98SE (clean install).
And then I installed McAfee VirusScan 6.02, but when turned on my computer today, it got stuck on the "Starting Win 98" screen.

I restarted it, and chose "Step by step confirmation," then I said yes to autoexec.bat, and a line was in there asking me if I wanted to start the bootscan for McAfee.
"C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\NETWOR~1\VIRUSS~1\40~1.XX\boo tscan.exe C:\"

I said yes, and everything went fine until it got to "Pass 8" then it froze.

Does anybody know why it might do that?

Oh, it also had that same line in there twice in a row.
With the line "@IF ERRORLEVEL 1 PAUSE" after both of them.

Any help appreciated! :)

Do the step by step confirmation again and choose not to do a scan with McAfee, there may be a problem with the installation of the application. Remove or re-install Mcafee after you startup and see if this solves your problem.

I have the system requirements, which I'm sure you would meet anyway, but just to check:

Microsoft ® Windows ® XP Home, XP Pro, 2000, 2000 Pro, NT 4 WS, Me, 98, 95b
Pentium 100MHz or higher processor
CD-ROM Drive
32MB RAM
33MB Hard disk space
Internet access is required for product updating
Internet Explorer 4.01, SP 2
US Operating Systems Only

Post back and let us know how it goes.
