SBLive XP Driver problems

hi last night i did a reinstall of XP pro without a format.. anyways when it came time to "upgrade" my soundcard drivers with the latest from the creative site i have the following issues (btw the installer completed fine so i thought everything went smooth)

-device manager says everything is working fine for Creative SBLive! (WDM)
-control panel/sounds and audio/everything is greyed out
-Winamp will only play though its Directsound driver
i have uninstalled and reinstalled after a reg cleaning nothing works
are my old settings still being used somehow in the registry?
is there a way to force the install manually?
the drivers aren't installing properly so any ideas of what to do?

Reboot from the XP CD and choose Install > (next screen) Repair. It might be wise to uninstall the card and software until you're done.

XP setup removes the old registry when you reinstall, so I doubt that this is "leftovers".

Did you go to windows update? I know they had an update for me and it took many tries before everything was OK. It kept saying I needed an update even right after I "successfully" updated it.

i did a windows update when i first reinstalled for everything i only install the creative junk for 4 speaker support cause i coundn't get them to work.im gonna uninstall everything and pull the card to morrow to another slot for laughs and see what happens.then its off to a repair install i gues..thx creative
bill when u say uninstall the card u mean uninstall in device manager or pull the card?or both?

bill when u say uninstall the card u mean uninstall in device manager or pull the card?or both? Both. This cleans things out a bit and the card may be reinstalled properly after a reboot or two.

There are WHQL drivers for the Live! in WinXP.
