Well I have an old P75 sitting around it has 16MB Ram and 2GB HD and Win95. Anyways I was thinking of putting my CD Burner in it so I could write CDs without having to tie up my main box. Would a P75 be fast enough to burn CDs with? My computer meets the hardware requirements for the CD burning software. So do you think it would work?
Thanks
Barney

I think my father wrote CD's on a 486.P75 isn't fast, but it should work.I do recommend getting at least 16mb more memory, because writing a CD is still quite a heavy task for your computer.

It depends on the burner.
HP requires a P200 and 32MB
Mitsumi requires P133 and 32MB
Sony requires P233 and 32MB
Plextor requires 32MB and your cpu is ok
Yamaha requires P233 and 32MB
IOMEGA requires a PII 300 and 32MB
I believe you will have no problems with the burner itself with a P75 (need more ram) but the software is the main reaon for the CPU needs.
Nero ( www.ahead.de (http://www.ahead.de) ) needs a 486 and 8MB ram. This software is compatible with most recorders but I would recommend version 4.0.9.1 over any of the 5th versions because I have not gotten any of the 5th versions to work with any of my four burners.
Good luck

233Mhz Pentium
32MB RAM for Windows 95/98 and 64 for W2K
At least a 5400RPM hdd with 75mb freespace
