What does a P4 1.4 ghz w/a gF3ti200 do for games that a P3 1.4ghz w/ a gf3ti4600 wouldn't do?

Thanks

Elliot

Not a whole lot. I'm currently running a P3 1G with a GF2 GTS (32MB) and I get over 100FPS in Quake3. What more do I need?

BipolarBill : try to get same 100fps with MOHAA ;)

As for your question, efn2000 : nothing. It will be even worst. Speaking just speeds, P3@1.4GHz is very close to P4@1.7GHz, and GF4Ti4600 is a lot faster then GF3Ti200.

So, stay with Pentium III.

I'm playing MOHAA right now. It got really hairy sniping the bridge! Those krauts brought 12FPS up the stairs with them!

At those processor speeds, a better graphics card will be the better choice.

If both CPUs are at 1.4GHz with everything else identical, A P4 makes you cry that you need a CPU upgrade and the P3 doesn't.

P3 has a far better IPC and will easily outperform an equally clocked P4.

There is no real comparison.

This is a very surprising thread. I'm flabbergasted.:(

Yah....Intel scrood the pooch on the 423-pin chip. The current Tualatin Pentium and Celeron 370-pin CPUs are really stout.
