com port

i just bought a new cordless mouse but when i plug it in to com port 2 the port is giving out no power for mouse reciever it works fine on my mates pc but for some reason my com port 2 is giving out no power as light on reciever unit isnt showing which it does on my mates is there a setting to send power to this port my old wired mouse works fine thankyou.

Go into bios setup and see if comport 2 is enabled or disabled. Some people disable com 2 so that a modem can use that port and resources. It may just be disabled from the factory...who knows, but you will have to enable it before it will be available. Now, once you enable it, and then the modem or something else dosn't work properly, you will have another problem to work out.
