I had been using my MS Intellimouse Explorer for at least 9 months when I did an upgrade to Windows ME.

In order to get the mouse to function properly I installed the 3.2 version of the software. Since then the back button and similar browser button functions are working only with MS Internet Explorer. These "extra" buttons no longer work with Netscape 3 and even more strangely don't work with the Copernic browser. I think that the Copernic browser is just a version of IE that has a different skin. So the back button function should work.

Anyone else have this trouble? Any solutions?

I am having this exact same problem. I initially had the mouse on a Win98 computer(where forward/back worked fine), but transferred it to my new WinME computer. The driver CD said that the OS was too new and suggested that I download new drivers. I got version 3.2, and the forward/back buttons only work in IE and browsing "My Computer".

I have had this problem for only a week, but I don't know what else I can do. I hope that it isn't M$'s way of trying to wipe-out Netscape in the "browser war".

Same problem with intellieye wheel mouse here, after upgrading to ME the back button function is wrong, mine jumps all the way back as many pages as it can in IE.

I don't have Marty's problem of multiple back page in IE but I may have a solution for that.

In the setup you can choose what the buttons do. Change the "back" designation on the thumb button to "backspace". That might help in IE though it won't give you the back function in Netscape or other browsers.

This really stinks and it is definately a programming decision or error. I have a program called Togglemouse (www.toggle.com) and it will allow you to make any of the three buttons into "back" on the browser. So for now I have chosen to make the middle button on the wheel the "back" button so I can hit back on the other browsers.

I am hoping that the author of the Togglemouse will support all five of the buttons on the Intellimouse Explorer so that I will have full function back. His program can't see the two buttons that are to the left of the mouse.

Sounds like something Microsoft would do.. intentionally making it more difficult to use other browsers with their hardware/software.

If "back" is one of the default buttons.. don't you think they would test the drivers with at least the next most popular browser outside of their own..
