I was wondering about the stability of this PSU I have. Notheing came up to question it yet but I know there is a dif. between the makes and models of psu's. Any PSU gurus out there? I myself am a little lagging in this area(PSU's) so I was wondering if my P4 approved PSU is a good one not just a lower end? I know it has to due with the current supplied at each v.'s and if the volts drop when the cpu under load (lile 5v and core volts specifically). But I dont know how mush it should be that is the prob. Any how is this a good one or avg. or junk? Here is the specs.

TTGI model no.: IT-400SS(420watt)
+3.3v is 28A
+5v is 42A
+12v is 16A
- 12v is 0.8A
- 5v is 0.5A
+5VSB is 2A

Total watts for +3.3v & +5v is 210W
Total watts for +12v 192W

combined wattage of 400watts

-12v = 9.6W
-5v = 2.5W
+5vsb = 10W

combined wattage of 22Watts

Thats what the label says anyays.

Good/bad? Thanx in advance for any replys.:)

Well I don't know about you but you can get an Enermax whisper 2 Fan PSU For 400 Watt and it works great in my experience I think they are 70-90 dollars and it works great and the bottom fan on the PSU comes straight from the case its great

This one is dual fan too. One at bottem clear blades on the fan and other out the back. Gold finger gaurds on both so it looks cool. Also has a kill switch in back so you dont have to unplug when working on(switchable PSU).:D I got the Hydrolic case and PSU for $119- that is why I'm guessing about the quality of it. Thanx for the input though! I just still want to find out if this one is any good before I ditch it.:(

How about looking at this list and see if your ps is listed. If it is the specs will be stated, as far as combined power rating etc.

I read a recent article that said the best and easiest way to evaluate a PSU is by weight. The heavier the unit, the better the quaility. It theorized this was due to larger voltage regulators, heat conductors etc. Conclusion: Although this is by no means a scientific measure, there is a positive relationship between PSU weight and performance. Hope this helps...Now P4 you know they may have produced 3000 units of your supply that are awesome performers but somebody at the factory dropped yours so it blows while you're reading this right? or 2999 crappy ones but you have the one that performs above specs and lasts for an eternity right? LOL, ok, i think you get the point:)

Thanx bobyjo. Mine is listed there though I'm useing it for a P4. So since the XP takes more juice this PSU is rated for the highest XP available,I guess I'm allright. 1 thing that is weird is the PSU says 420watt but the model # cross reference says it is 400watt. 400 must be the actuall output. Thanx again. I think it must be powerfull enough if AMD rates it that well.:D

The case is like 50lbs. and I think the psu must be about 5lbs. of it. So the PSU is pretty heavy. I know what you were getting at about the whole weight thing. It has to due with the size of transformer mostly. More windings in the transformer the more power it makes. Had electronics for 4 years in school so I get your meaning in the whole weight thing.:D Thanx
