I can't logon to AOL instant messenger, it's not a password/login problem. It won't connect, displays this message: "The AIM service can't be reached." I tried using Trillian but it can't connect through that either. I'm not sure what the problem is, could it be a firewall/proxy problem? If so how can I shut down my firewall and find my proxy setting? Any suggestions?

First of all there might be problem at AOL services and not at yours. Try to wait a day or two.
Firewall, Proxy should be changed within AOL messanger, but i think its not the problem.

w2k pro or server @ one time had to have a patch from microsoft added to your system for aim to work. This may not still be the case but it was about 6 months ago. Aim would work at first but would eventually stop.

that's kind of my case, although my AIM stopped working about 2 months ago. But I remember it working before. I'll see if I can find the patch, thanks :)
