I discovered a strange file on my system. The name of the file is eksysopt.dat! Anyone have an idea what this file is doing in my system and what the functions are of the file???

Sounds like a SysOpt spy file. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Look at it w/Quikview.exe. If that can't open it, you could look @ it with DOS's Edit.com

Actually, I did open the file and looked, but the only thing that was written was "dev\"

Not here, either.

In fact, I don't find it anywhere on a Google, Metacrawler and VirusList (http://www.viruslist.com/eng/default.asp) search.

I always keep an eye out on my root directory for changes such as new files, and dang! That thing must've gotten in my system yesterday.....Well, whatever the heck that file was doing on my system, it's been deleted and I also restored my registery from my back up..... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
