Com ports

I installed a modem in my computer widows won't find it. I was told I need to open a com port. can some one tell me how to do this

Go into your bios and disable one of the serial ports (i usually recommend you disable serial B). On reboot, your modem can glom onto com 2 (IRQ 3 usually)
