How tho know file property...

How do I find out the name of the property...like zip,txt,etc...I am having problems finding out what it is...all it says is "FILE"

The file may not have an extension. With no extension, Windows has no idea what to open it with, so when you click on it, you will be asked what program to use.

In Windows Explorer, go to View - Folder Options and find where it says "Hide extensions for all known file types." Make sure that's turned OFF. (You can turn it back on later if you don't like to see file extensions) If Windows still doesn't show you the .??? extension, then this file doesnt have one at all.

In that case, try a few things to open it. You will have to get into the program you want to try and do File- Open. Choose "All File Types" from the pulldown menu or you won't be able to see your file. Try opening it with Winzip and Internet Explorer (IE can read a lot of image files as well as html).

Also make sure you have an antivirus running while you're doing this, or at least scan it with an updated antivirus first. If you don't know what it is, it could be unfriendly.

In my opinion, I wouldn't open it if the only name on it says FILE. To me, that just screams virus or trojain.
