Can anyone tell me how to update a previously flashed bios with a newer bios. 2 years ago I flashed my BH6 with the KG bios and all worked fine. Now I want to update to the newest SS bios.I tried to simply swap the bin files in my bios folder, but it still flashes KG. I made a system disk and copied the new bios files to it. Booted to the floppy. I then accessed the awdflash utility and it asked me for a file to be programed. I tried to program the updated .bin file 2 ways. First from the floppy a:\BH6_ss.bin and then from my bios folder and got "insufficient memory " error both times. This is a generic error messasge 'cus I've got lots of ram.
Any help please

I've had that happen and don't recall exactly what I was doing wrong. Abit has a pretty good set of instructions at their site and following them explicitly usually works.
You can, at the DOS Prompt, type awdflash /? to get a list of the switches. Maybe you overlooked one that should be used.

Make sure your system disk has no autoexec.bat and config.sys files. These may be loadind too much into the first 640k of memory.
Problem solved.

GPo! Please tell us: How did you solve the problem? Was it one of these kind posters' suggestion?
Your fix might help someone else having the same problem http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
The problem was that some instructions said to work from a boot disk with the awdflash & bios files, I had problems with this. Another post by Bleeding edge explained how to update your bios from a bios directory.
So thanks to bleeding edge for solving my problem.
Booted into my soft menue set up. Disabled level 1 & 2 cache, & bios shadowing.
I bypassed windows set up files and started up in Dos. From within my bios directory I executed the awdflash program from which contained the bios .bin file and the awdflash program. C:\bios\awdflash and then the bios update & the swithches. All OK now.
