Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here has any clue as to what is going on here. I just built a new system and now I am completely frustrated.
90% of the applications I try to install cause my computer to completely lock up or reboot (e.g., Detonator drivers, SB Audigy drivers, SiSoft Sandra). Q3 also locks me up about 10-15 seconds into the program -- I can't even get past the CD Key screen without it freezing. XP (is it XP that's even causing these problems?) seems to be picky with the applications. Programs like the Detonator install program, SB Audigy install program and the SiSoft Sandra program don't let me get past like the 3rd window in the Setup Wizard before it decides to lockup my system. On the other hand, I can do a complete install of Quake 3 Arena without any problems but I'll lockup when running the game.
Please, someone! Anyone! Point me in the right direction as I've tried everything (upgrading/downgrading the BIOS, upgrading/downgrading the VIA 4-in-1 drivers, re-installing XP). Maybe there's a setting in the BIOS I am not setting correctly?
