There is just not enought people here posting! There everywhere else, perhaps anandtech forum?! 10 time more people there then here. Well you know the crowd like to stick together and they most likely stay at one forum 24hrs a day. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif LOL Hardwarecentral seem to be having some kind of bandwidth problem constantly locking up my browser and going dead.

I believe the original question was,
"Any other forums like sysopt.com"

Along the same lines as what Cygnus-X1 posted I would have to say no!

Besides! There is only one socalgal and we have her!

Cheers!

I have to say SYSOPT has really nice forums and really nice people posting here. So I think, we should do some kind of advertising on other forums, and tell their people to come post here with us ...

PS. Socalgal is a chick ?! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

socalgal

Yes, I'm a chick http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Not a good idea to "advertise" on other sites, though. It's seen as spamming and usually frowned upon.

If you want to get the word around, create an E-mail signature including "Do You SysOpt? Hyper link "SysOpt" to the forums page:

http://sysopt.earthweb.com/cgi-bin/forum/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro

Send everyone you know a really great joke using the signature file.

That should do it as everyone likes to forward good jokes.

Cheers!

I had lots of positive replies on that one otheos. Lots of folks didn't know they could turn it off and it bothered them as well. I would love to know how far reaching it went. I hope every one on here has sent that link to everyone.

SysOpt Forums have proven to be much more...how do you say, family oriented. It seems as if all of us are Equally as helpful to Each Other, and are always up to learning new things. We fight, laugh, and post just like we are all brothers and sisters. I have yet to find another forum that is this close-knit, and don't think I ever will.

Thanks SysOpt,

Mike

Hello all.
I got into computers 2 years ago. Bought a $2200.00 Dell P3 450MHz. WOW, yes. The P3 was new.
Then I found this forum. Man have I learned a lot. I got hooked in the the O\Cing forum. Because of that forum I sold the Dell and built one from scratch. But now when I post questions I get little response. I know there are some very computer knowledgeable people on this forum but most of the responses I get are from jr. or regular members. Not that they are any less knowledgeable then the others but where did all the senior and ultimate users go? I only see them when they respond to crack a joke or lol at something. I've tried to stay with and will continue to post my questions here but now I post my question here and Hardware Central and get about a 6 to 1 response. I never thought I would need or use another forum.
I still like this forum but I just don't think it is what it was. ~

Got to respond to your comment Pack'nHeat. I haunted this forum for about 6 months before I felt compelled to respond to a post. Since then Ive responded around 160 times. The number of posts does not always equate with PC knowledge. Ive seen posts here from 1st timers that were awesome.Ive also seen postes from Senior Members that were so far off the mark it was almost comical! I also read and post on other forums if I dont get a solution to a problem. As far as my background goes,my first pc was a 386 that I promptly tried to OC. Presently Im a 2nd level field tech for a major US insurance company.Prior to that I was a domain admin for a 150 node network with prior stops at various levels in the industry. I deal with problems on a daily basis from users that might mystify them but are nothing to me. Yes, I agree with you that sometimes a person wont get a resolution to a problem here on a timely basis, but the solution to that is adding more users here. At present there are 13568 registered users. Out of that maybe 5000 were users that registered to post a question. Assuming they resolved their problem and moved on you now have a pool of around 8000 users. Out of that 8000 pool, at any given time there may be between 15-100 logged in at a time. Its an ebb and flow of traffic, similar to other sites. If we all put the word out to 5 people about sysopt and they began posting, you would have an additionial 40000 users. Its up to us to make sysopt continue to grow. I know Ive told all my friends in the pc community about sysopt and I have actually seen posts from people that I knew. So lets all work together to make this a better place ....steve http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I have 170 postings to my name since Dec 2/00

I would say that 95% of them are legit replies to technical problems. I have told at least 10 people this month alone about SysOpt and what a wonderful resource it is. I've been here since June of this year and have enjoyed every learning moment of it.

I'm also trying to regain my Seniors Status so I can pay less at McDonalds and other fine restraunts. lol

Cheers!

I think the Networking part of the SysOpt forum has a really good repsonse time right now. Of the 10~20 most recent posts, the majority have an initial respose time within 1 day, most are even within hours.
I can't say much of the other areas since I don't frequent them.

What do think Socalgal, how do you think the responses compare to previous months? Are we getting better or ?

socalgal
12-21-2000, 10:05 PM
I must agree that Networking has great response time lately, in good part to your efforts there, DVNT1. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Sometimes, due to a large amount of postings in a forum, a post may be delegated down the forum page without a reply. It's always suggested that if a reply hasn't been made after a day, post a 'ttt' (or whatever) reply (your own thread, or not) and bump it up so it's more visible.

Some ppl may not be around (especially during holidays and the vacations thereby) or it could be a more difficult situation requiring the right person with the knowledge and experience to see it. Please give it a little time, and bump it up.

There's always an ebb and flow, a cycle; although it's always been my hope and desire that all of you great techs cycle through all the tech forums first and keep Community for the 'icing on the cake', if you will.

This is first and foremost a tech help site http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
