SBlive51 + Inspire 5300 problems

Running XP PRO with the latest 5.1 XP drivers from Creative.

When i test the speakers in the EAX panel all 5+sub works fine.

But when i play a game or use Musicmatch, the center speaker doesn´t work - it´s just making a hissing noise.

Any ideas ?

Depends on the sound source. If it's not a 5.1 source, you may get noise. In most cases, it's best to set your config to 4-speakers unless you know the source supports 5.

I've tried every new game (almost). MOHAA, RTCW, Renegade, SS TSE ... no sound from the center speaker.

Guess i have to settle with only four speakers. :( :(

Try physically swapping out the center speaker to check the box itself. Check the connections well.

In the EAX control panel, make sure that you selected the 5-speaker setup.

There's no problem when i press the "test button" in the EAX control panel. All speakers works fine, but when i start a game like MOHAA, there's no sound from the center speaker.

I have selected 5.1 speakers in the EAX panel and tried swapping the speakers around. All satellites work.

You may have to activate 5.1 support in the game itself because that games cannot sense the presence of the speakers. Try using Google (www.google.com) to search for information on "5.1" and "game name". Also read the (you guessed it) README and game manual.

MOHAA should be 5.1 compatible.

Well...the card or card drivers may be at fault. You may have a dead center channel.

Alternatively, if you have a DVD_ROM try a DVD on it. The center speaker should only play dialogue.
