have some questions about backing up information from hard drive

Okay my moms computer really really needs to be formated and have a clean install of win98. she uses icq and outlook. i want to back up all her icq files. peice of cake i think. the one i having trouble with is outlook. last time i thought i saved all her email address but it didn't work. tough deal since after that i had to type in over 60 emails by hand. plus i want to back up all her email that she has sent, saved, and just recieved. thanxs for the help

Its easier to search for the stuff. Mine is under windows\application data\identities\{9ce....so on so on.
Do a search on h/drive for *.dbx it should come up with'inbox.dbx' 'outbox.dbx' ......u get the idea. depending on how often it gets used & cleaned up it will vary in size (fairly huge at times).
I do not know with ICQ though.
Oh yeah the address book is *.wab and is a few hundred kB if its a fairly small one.

Are you absolutely sure you have to go that far? I've had some pretty grouchy behaviors go away by running DeFrag, reinstalling W98 and then running DeFrag again. Sometimes twice.

I use CTRL-ALT-DELETE and END TASK to shut down everything except Explorer to get the cleanest DeFrag.

First off degfrag for win95 and win98 are total jiunk. Yes i think i have to go that far with this computer. she had win95 first on it and then put win98 on top of it. she has all these useless files laying around that unistallers won't clean. Thanxs sns for the tips
