I really like it. But I don't like it's multiple windows being confined within it's main window.

Graham 12-14-2000, 01:45 PM Using 4.01 now, I have problems with some of my work sites, and, although it says java is enabled I dont think it is. Netscape and IE crashed, Opera never has yet (about 5 months). All sorts of nice things, tabbed screens, download manager etc. G Edited for finger trouble, anyone got a working set? JaYsin Techie Dude 12-14-2000, 02:27 PM If it has ad banners/bars, it goes in the recycle bin! Do you have to pay for it? Why? Especially when IE / Netscape are free! Nuff Said! TD. GroundZero3 12-14-2000, 03:52 PM its not a banner pop up its a banner that sits inside the window. it doesn't get in the way. plus IE is a piece of ****. thats why you should use it. this is 100x times faster. JaYsin sharder8 12-14-2000, 09:47 PM Opera is my primary browser and has been for the last couple of years. Opera 5.0 seems to work a little smoother than 4.02, but I don't care much for the search bar. As for banners and ads, I don't know since I purchased my copy and have never seen them. To me, it's been well worth the money just in the time saved by crashes in Netscape and IE. Also in the time saved in loading and the speed at which it runs. I must admit, that sometimes I still think about 4.02 though. GroundZero3 12-15-2000, 12:24 AM A guy at my work convinced me to try it out. and im so impressed with. kind of need some time to get used to it. but its so much faster than Internet Explorer!! i recommond to get this. enjoy. anyone else tried it? http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-3364666-100-4012125.html?tag=st.dl.10001.pop.3364666-100-4012125 JaYsin MadMatt 12-15-2000, 12:31 AM Great program! By far the quickest browser out there. Plus, get this, the thing is small enough to fit on one floppy! Java and plug-in support is kinda dicey tho.... howste 12-15-2000, 12:44 AM [lame attempt at humor] I tried it once, my throat was sore for a week http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif [/lame attempt at humor] CMonster 12-15-2000, 12:51 AM Using Opera trial version for BeOS - but I'm not going to pay $40 for it. AMD kicks 12-16-2000, 03:25 AM I used Opera a while back but ever since IE5.0 I see no need but I still miss the split screen feature that let you view multiple pages on one window. stylin19 12-17-2000, 08:41 PM been using opera as my primary browser since before version 3.0. I have tried 4.02 & 5.0 (paid for it, as an upgrade)with and without java. Until i can fine tune 5.0, I went back to version 3.62 with java. I have a Win98 install using 98litepro v 4.0., which gives me Win98 with the Win95 shell and no IE or IE integration.! So, Opera fits in with the skinny install, because it doesnt integrate with the OS files like IE and it's not bloatware like IE or Netscape. One draw-back is, opera is still coded using terminate-stay, which drains resources. It also has some trouble with tables. Hence, I keep a version of Netscape, for some sites. Sharpstick 12-17-2000, 09:59 PM I guess bandwith wouldn't be an issue here ?? I have no problem with IE 5.5...loads pages in seconds. just a thought ...ooo and it's an ISDN connection, not even cable( I wish)hell i might even try it to see http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Sharp Happy Holiday's to all http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif otheos 12-20-2000, 07:07 PM I just got 5.01 and it's great (very fast) Only thing: Flash/Shockwave??? Any ideas how to get these to work? sharder8 12-20-2000, 07:40 PM Otheos -- Do you already have plug-ins for Flash/Shockwave installed in another browser? If you do, did you go to File/Preferences/plugins Click on "Find Plugins" and then put a check mark in the box by enable plugins? I'm running 5.0 and have had Flash/Shockwave work, but I don't remember if I had to do something else. ablang 12-21-2000, 04:57 PM I like it. I like it a lot. But Opera still has some weaknesses even w/ Java installed. Certain sites which require 128 bit don't work well w/ Opera, so I still use MSIE with those. SysOpt.com
