I had this idea... I think it would work too...
Make a Windows Minimalist Edition. It does away with all the "User Friendly" stuff like SystemRestore, various warnings, user-friendly features for the computer illiterate, etc. and just leave a core windows.
Personally, even though it gets a lot of **** (Windoze, etc.) I think Windows is a pretty good OS. It's relatively stable, (for me) is pretty fast and clean, and is pretty efficient. (efficient UI) But with release of WinME (of which I did not get) I saw a trend towards the more "user friendly but a little slower" type of OS. If you look at Compaqs they aren't liked very much by power users because they add all this "User" stuff. Us power people like things small, clean, and fast.
WinMin would be much faster because it wouldn't have all the extra stuff running, and it would be a lot smaller on the HDD.
If this ever came out, I would buy it... who else would?
Is this a decent idea or do I need more sleep http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.
