I just got my hands on a new Leadtek A250 Ultra TD and was so excited to install and go but I think I may have a dead card. Uninstalled Leadtek GF3 Ti 500 and 23.11 drivers; switched to VGA driver, rebooted, shut down. Installed new card, booted to desktop and CD-ROM has disappeared from My Computer on W98SE. Oh well, I like reference drivers anyway, so I think I will just install 23.11's - nope - halfway through install, message pops up that "PCI ID" cannot be found and install terminates.

I uninstall, switch back to GF3 Ti 500 and life is good again. Do I have a $389 paperweight?

System = Intel D850GB mobo, P4 1.5 GHz cpu, 512 RDRAM, 300 watt power supply, nothing sharing IRQ 11 except PCI Steering, Audigy Gamer, etc.

Try resetting your BIOS (and ESCD) upon installation of new video card.

Video BIOS or Computer BIOS? And when you say reset, what do you mean?

I am not sure what ESCD is...........

Computer BIOS.
You can reset it via jumper near the CMOS battery located on the motherboard.
Also look under "PnP" or similar section in your computer's BIOS, in case you see something that has "ESCD reset" - enable it, it might help too.
