I'm using "zonealarm",Have been for awhile now. The messages come up when starting up the computer.

Probably the trojan trying to get out into the world to infect the rest of us.

Did you just get the firewall? What programs were you using at the time?

hello there jap03,perform a search looking for these progs,

they would probably be exe's

wcmdmgr.exe & qmgr.exe

then right click those files and they may or may not have a "version" tab which you can click to see any info about them,

i performed a search on my computer and didn't turn up anything, so it's a good idea to get a anti-virus prog and update it's signature files and see what it turns up.
you could also try removing the offending apps to another location, such as your desktop and see if any programs function properly after the move. The names look "official" and they may be harmless, but until you found out for sure, deny the progs access to the internet, they may in fact be trojans or simple "phone home" or "spy ware" progs that comes with many shareware and add sponsored software.

if you find out anything, let us know okay japo3

I belive wcmdmgr is related to winamp, and qmgr to "NQS queue manager program"....

I'm not sure. This is just from takeing "wcmdmgr" and "qmgr" and sticking it in google. http://www.google.com

...or any search engine

try it and see what you can come up with

yeah,,i think it is winamp,,i've had winamp installed for some time,,yet there were many options i chose not to install with it,,

if you have the zonealarm deskband enabled on zonealarm (rigth click on an empty area of the system tray-very bottom right- and then click on tool bars, you will see it)

it will show a descriptive icon of the prog that it trying to access the internet, if it shows the little winamp icon, then you are probably safe as far as wcmdmgr goes.

In a related note: http://www.langa.com and http://grc.com have completed full blown tests of the all the most popular software based/application manangment based firewalls and they both concluded that zonealarm is the best, and some of the ones that are not free were the worst. go to http://grc.com Steve Gibson has a very simple prog called leaktest , and it's a very simple prog that tests whether or not your firewall will catch a rogue prog trying to "phonehome" accoring to Fred Langa and Steve Gibson, zonealarm was the only firwall that consistently caught the perpetrator everytime, while others that claim to be better than zonealarm simply did not,,hey you sysgate users, it failed, miserably, an unknown prog was able to contact Steve Gibson ftp server with leaktest.exe and sygate, and others simply did not make one peep about it,,scary stuff.

just thought you guys would like to know that.

sincerely

I'm not sure what they are exactly, but one thing I can tell you for sure is that neither of those files exist on my systems....

Thank you so much for your response, which helped a bunch. Why does it need to access the internet if it is a part of the "CD ROM burning system?" Is it a way for someone to keep track of what you are putting on CDs? I'm thinking of actions like QAgent with Quicken, which is reported to send the company your financial info files used by Quicken. Incidently, Quicken works fine without it.

Can you burn CDs if you delete it?

You can click on 'More Info' and you will be taken to a website with information about the IP number that the app wants access to.

Holy cow, this is an old post! Anyway, the software should function perfectly fine without it. Lots of software now tries to access the internet for various reasons - some legitimate (like checking for software updates), and some not (like sending profiling information).

Qmgr is the same package as loadqm; they're both installed by MSN Messenger or MSN Explorer and can be deleted without worry (or better: just disable their load-on-startup entries in the registry)
