Hi,
Just wondering what people's average download speed is. And the fastest they ever got
Mine from the net is usually around 300k/s
From a P2p sharing app (ie Kazaa) 150-200k/s
I have a 2mb line provided by Road runner.
Fastest speed that I remember was the very first day I got cable.
Downloaded a 70mb demo at over 700k/s :)
Never saw that speed again.

200-300Kbps normally with 400Mbps spikes.
Standard Roadrunner in a lower middle-class neighborhood where they love their cars. :D
Ping is another story. DSL beats RR.

In gamespy my ping is always under 45
and in most games it hits under 30.

You must be closer to the backbone than I am. :(

I'm on a public university connection.
I get Kazaa downloads anywhere from decimal points to 400k. When FTPing to a friend on the campus network I get over 700k.

** Speed 1438(down)/115(up) kbps **
(At least 28 times faster than a 56k modem)
Logged result.
Finish.
I have AT&T BI. I went to SpeedGuide (http://www.speedguide.net) to tweak my system a little. I'm capped at 1.5Mbs.

Cable:
6.7 seconds average to download 1MegaByte on average(you figure it out).Sometimes more late at night.
RR a.k.a...time warner..a.k.a mindspring,etc.
BTW:...Sorry, but DSL is NOT as fast as cable!Unless you pay for guar-ron-teed download bandwidth!

I have Telus Velocity ADSL (local phone company) and I hit a HARD wall at 166Kbytes/sec(1.3Mbits/sec download. and 60kb/sec(480Mbits/sec) upload. That's not too bad for a line capped at 187.5Kbytes/sec(1.5Mbits/sec) download and 64Kbytes/sec(0.512Mbits/sec) upload and for living out in some hicktown.
I love the speed:) , but I hate the stupid transfer limits:mad:. I only get 5gb download and 1gb upload for $40 a month. Even their $160 server package only gets you 8gb download @ 500Kbytes/sec(4Mbits/sec) and 80Kbytes/sec(0.640Mbits/sec) per month. Unfortunately, this is as good as DSL gets in British Columbia. I could go to Shaw Cable, which is faster and unrestricted in GB, but their "highly trained technicians" are a bunch of retards, so there's no way were going to let them in to install a cable modem. They had enough trouble installing another TV outlet, which my dad ended up doing:mad:.

My cable is slow compared to most cable but it sure beats dial up.
Besides they are the only cable we have and DSl is not available in my neck of the woods. :)
They advertise 512 kbps down / 256 up. I usually get 500/250.

I am with MT&T, I get about 200K-300K, I also have a network of 4 computers sharing it, so it can slow down.

AT&T, post @home's problems. I'm capped at 180KB down, 14.7KB upstream.
With @home I had 500KB downstream, dunno what the cap was. Same upstream cap, tho. :(
The new radio technology here in podunk is faster than a T1, but the power lines prevented me from getting it. [interference on the line-of-sight]. :(
And don't think visions of chain saws don't pop into my mind whenever I see those power line poles. ;)
Have BT Openworld instaled today, Now get 560 down and 240 up is this good bad or inderefent.
Seems quick after a 45bit conection with a modem.

ADSL through TDS in Indiana
Average d/l speeds of 60-80k but I've seen 150k from a good site. I can get a 25mb file from Netscape's servers in about 4 minutes. I think my line is capped at 1.5mbps.
