ECS P4S5A mother board w/integrated sound and lan /WINME OS/

When I load drivers that came on the Motherboard CD it hangs with the error:

"Generic has caused an error in RMDEVICE.EXE Generic will now close.

If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer"

Well I restart the thing and I get the same error.

The driver "seems" to work in that I have some sound comming out of my speakers. I have little or no volume and my microphone is very distorted. The strange thing is that in the WINME control panel - sound/multimedia - in the voice Wizard setup thingy, one of the tests has you talk and it "tunes" your audio system for you....that seems to work!!!???!!!...I actually here my voice coming through. I have down loaded the latest drivers from ECS and when I follow the readme directions I get the same error as when I use the the CD.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This may be the last time I try to build a system from scratch especially when the motherboard support WEB site asks you to load chinese characters...that should have been my wake up call I guess??

Thanks,

hocko

Post in the motherboard forum, you may get a response there.

If you don't like Chinese then why not try ecsusa.com?

Besides, the sound engine is an SiS chipset integrated device, visit www.sis.com for the truly latest drivers. But beware, SiS are an Asian company too ...

I'm not familiar with your m/b but have you enabled the onboard sound in your bios? If not, you may be trying to enable something that the operating system can't see. Biglaker

Hello
I have the above mobo with a Pentium D Dual Core processor. I am trying to use the onboard graphics port and the display I get on a flat screen monitor is green (the traditional blue of windows is green) and everything displayed is green tinged. I have tried using this monitor on a different computer and the display is fine. I have tried using the old AGP graphics card on the mobo but as soon as the system boots into Windows I get the blue screen of death and the system reboots (but at least it displayed correctly)
Has anyone seen this problem before and does anyone know how I can solve this problem?
Thanks
