If you haven't received a heads up lately, the Holidays is a time for viruses, trojans, and worms.
Last night I received another virus, named "Joke_Buttons" (renamed Buttons2.exe). Thankfully, I have layered defense and it was shelled upon arrival. So it was easy to delete with no harm done. (This was the second in two days!)
My layer system:
1. ZoneAlarm -- Firewall, watches over email as well.
2. Trend PC-cillin -- Anti-Virus program, seems to catch the most (caught Buttons).
3. Norton AV -- Well known Anti-Virus program, still one of my favorites even though PC-cillin has been catching more.
4. Eudora Pro -- E-mail program, I have security set to prevent opening all executables inside Eudora and instead open in a shell outside.
5. MY BRAIN -- What can I say, so far I've been smart enough not to open attachments unless I know it's safe. I know they say not to open anything from someone or site you don't know and trust, but both in the last couple days came from family.
Now the questions -- How many of the rest of you use layering for security against Viruses, Trojans, and worms? Those of you that do, what is your layering like? Any suggestions on improving my system (I use dial-up, so not on-line a lot).
