Following is my config:

Athlon 1.2 Gig Hz
1 ISA 1520B S/E SCSI card connects a tape drive - SCSI ID 2
1 PCI 2940 U2B LVD SCSI card connecting 2 disks
1st disk is an 18 Gig wth SCSI ID 0
2nd Disk is an 9 gig with a scsi ID 4

Both the Adapters are set for SCSI ID 7 (which is default)

I had to re-install win2k on the 18 gig disk after a failed attempt on the 9 gig. I had disconnected the 1520B adapter while completing the rest of the win 2K installation. I reconnected the 1520B and the system would not recognize the 2940 and thus does not see the any internal disks. If I remove the 1520B, it boots fine after displaying the SCSI bios for the 2940. I tweaked with the system bios settings, reset to defaults, etc, but to no avail. I know both the SCSI cards are in working order. I have hot plugged the 1520B after boot up, and win2K sees it just fine. The problem is with boot. This exact setup used to work just fine when I used to boot from an internal IDE disk, with the scsi bios recognizing both the adapters.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

What pci slots do you have the 2940 card located. You have your bios set to boot from SCSI. It looks for the first SCSI card in the pci slots. Make sure the 2940 is installed in a slot closer to the video card than the 1520 is.
I have my 29160 in pci #2.

The only PCI SCSI card in the box is the 2940. Yes, I have set the boot priority to SCSI immediately following floppy and CD.

Actually, I found out that it did not even matter if I specified the scsi as the boot device or not. The system still booted off the first scsi drive if I took out the 1520B Card. Since the video card sits on an AGP slot, I have even tried with the 2940 being in the first PCI slot. I am assuming counting from top to bottom, with the ISA being the bottom most slot.

I don't seem to get the logic here.. The system used to recognize both the cards when booting off the IDE, and now all of a sudden trying to tell it to teach it to boot from a SCSI drive (with no ide present) seems such a nightmare!

Do you have the SCSI bios set to boot the 18 gig drive ID on the 2940 card?
Will it boot with the 1520 installed but the tape unit not hooked up?
