The icon that appears in the System Tray when connected to the internet has disappeared. I am sure I have seen a checkbox somewhere to enable this but I can't remember where - any ideas? (Win2000 & IE6).

Then double-click on your Local Area Connection and choose Properties again. Make sure that the box next to "Show icon in taskbar when connected" is checked. If you're on a dialup modem, the process is similar. You'll want to right click on your modem and choose properties, making sure the same box is checked like above. Good luck. cadmaster 03-28-2002, 09:38 AM Thanks, but I connect via ISDN and it doesn't show as a modem. Similarly, Win2000 doesn't have My Network Places and the Network and Dial-Up Connections in the Control Panel doesn't have anywhere with a checkbox either. Can anyone help? BobOmega 03-28-2002, 10:19 AM win2k dose 2 have a My network places its on the desktop by dedault ... and i think this may work. try unpluging the cable from the back of the computer and see if a network cable unpluged thing pops up above the systray it should give you a lan disabled icon that you can double click and get to the lan properites and check the show when connected box. then plug in and you should see a connected lan speed whatever. thats what happens on my laptop when i connect at school it has the lan unpluged icon when i'm not conneced. i'm using win2k. dmoltrup 03-28-2002, 10:51 AM Try this: Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel . Double-click Add/Remove Programs . Click Add/Remove Windows Components . Click Management and Monitoring Tools , and then click Details . Click to select the Network Monitor Tools check box, and then click OK . Click Next . dmoltrup 03-28-2002, 10:58 AM BTW - If it's already checked, uncheck it to uninstall it, then re-install and see what happens. SysOpt.com
