My laptop won't boot up. I recently installed Windows Me onto it! It worked fine for awhile, but not it won't boot up. It hangs at the Windows Me splash screen.

I want to be able to reformat the hard drive. I don't want to use the restore CD Rom. I want to be able to get into DOS and do a clean install.

When I put in my Windows Boot Disk, it won't boot from the floppy. How can I get my laptop to boot from the floppy?

Thanks for your help.

It is likely that the CD ROM is first to be booted from on that system in the BIOS. Go into the BIOS and set the floppy to be the first to be booted, then the C: drive.
To get into the BIOS, there are a few differnt ways depending on the brand of computer: some use the Del key right after the keyboard is detected, some use F-1, F-8 or F-10. Some use another key. Check your manual or go to the website of the manufacturer of your laptop. Once you have the floppy set to boot first, put the setup floppy in and restart the computer.... that should do it.

Good because Toshiba posts their drives on the website. Download those first (at least the modem driver) and you are on your way. I think F2 loads the bios windows on most new Toshiba laptops.

Good luck.
