I am a new MCSE/A+ currently looking for a sys admin job. The systems guy at my work told me that in Southern California, the starting salary for an entry level sys admin position is $40K to $45K. What about the Bay area? Everybody knows the cost of living is much higher there. What is the reasonable salary for an entry level sys admin in, say, Silicon Valley?

well i have a salary of 63k a year but then i live in sweden
i have a friend that works in silicon valley and he makes 96k and he sais that his salary is pretty high even for silicon valley

There are several salary surveys around the 'net. Try some of the job search sites like monster.com, dice.com, etc. Also try searching for jobs in the bay area and see what salaries are offered in those ads. Should give you a good idea of the going rates.

Starting in Atlanta fresh MCSE'ers are starting at about 50k if you get Novell certified on top of that it will increase your value by about 20k a year.
