Media Player Codecs

How can i get and install all available codecs for mediaplayer?

Microsoft's site sucks and i can't find anything like this. I refuse to update to Media Player 7 because it takes 4 years to load, even on my screamin fast computer (okay - maybe not screamin fast, but at least yellin fast!)

hey, i got problems with codecs on my WMP too. it tries to download them automatically but it always says it failed to correctly install the codec after downloading. what's up with this and how can i fix it?

It probably encoded with the DivX codec. You won't find it on the Microsoft autoupdate site because ostensibly it is connected to ripped DVDs. Try DivX in a search engine, that should point you to that and many other codecs... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Well I do have installed a divx codec. But my problem is that it downloads the codec but says it couldn't install it correctly.

check the newsgroups. I found divx there. I was a little worried about d/l a .exe file there, but everything went ok
