If I have a notebook (Dell I7000) that fits a 12.5mm HD and I put a 9.5mm HD in it, will that give me a problem or do I only have to "size it in" with foam etc?

Like a little aluminum pan with an IC plug in one end that acts as an interface between the notebook's HD plug and the plug in the HD itself. If so, take out the four TEENY screws that hold the HD in the caddy (possible a couple others that hold the IC in place), slide the HD out (and unplug it from the IC), plug the new, skinny one in, reinstall the screws and, viola!, the skinny drive is ready. My old 6.4GB drive was a 12.5mm. My new 12GB is 9.5mm. Took the old one out of the caddy. Put the new one in. No prob. I'd be really reluctant to use any kind of dunnage (padding) to hold an HD in place. That would hold the heat in. SysOpt.com
