The future??

With it, we should be able to build mass storage devices that can store more than a hundred billion billion bytes in a volume the size of a sugar cube; RAM that can store a mere billion billion bytes in such a volume; and massively parallel computers of the same size that can deliver a billion billion instructions per second."

Amazing stuff, huh? Who would've thought, ten or twenty years ago we would have lazer eye surgery? Arthroscopic surgery instead of full-tilt "legacy" surgery where nearly the whole joint would be laid open?

Technology is advancing expotentially, and sometimes we have to sti back for a second and realize that we have passed through 1984, and now learing into 2001. Hmmm...

Things change, and I've seen things my parents wouldn't have dreamed of... And I don't know which I'm more in awe of, the changes and improvements I see, or the fact that I'm still here to see them.

I hope you have a great holiday season, whatever your beliefs, and an even better 2001!

Alan

I'm starting research next semester with a group that is working in that field. We will be making a sort of molecular antenna and trying to take advantage of the photoelectric effect!
