Before you do this however, you will need to find out your IP address. You can do this by hitting the START button > RUN > type in Command > at the prompt, type in "ipconfig /all" <-- do not include quotes and note the space between ipconfig and all. This should get you the IP address given to you by your ISP. You'll need to check your IP address after each dialup/successfully connected attempt. Obviously, if the IP address changes, you will know that they are serving dynamically. G'luck. civic619 03-22-2002, 01:58 AM Thanks Namark, Ive done that and it notes that DHCP is ENABLED...on the very top... anyway, you were talking about dialup.. im on a cable modem connection.. so would i have to shut down my computer??? and restart to gain another IP addy?? if thats how it works... namrak 03-23-2002, 10:12 AM Oops. Yeah, thats all you would need to do if you're on a "always on" connection civic619. Just reboot your computer and then check to see if you've received a new IP address. kwebb 03-24-2002, 01:27 AM Why in the world would you reboot? Goto a command prompt and run ipconfig /all. That'll tell you what you need to know. That or check your NIC's properties. Or just type ipconfig /renew or /release. Or.... you get the idea. No need to reboot. SysOpt.com
