Heat-sink-attachment methods optimize thermal performance-->> www.ednmag.com/ednmag/reg/1999/090299/18ms556.htm (http://www.ednmag.com/ednmag/reg/1999/090299/18ms556.htm)
Thermal Interface Materials//If the interface between the device and the heat sink were ideal, no interface material would be required.
Most electronic components, however, have sufficient surface unevenness to allow less than 1% contact between the device and the heat sink.
The air separating the remaining 99% of the surface is a poor heat conductor-->> www.icepak.com/news/articles/art10.htm (http://www.icepak.com/news/articles/art10.htm)
Here's a site that has made some custom heat sinks for OEM builders, not for sale to individuals as I can tell.-->> http://www.heattechnology.com/custom.htm
Like the Radio Shack compound-->>
Silicone Oil-Based Thermal Joint Compound fills the minute air gap between mating surfaces with a grease-like material containing zinc oxide in a silicone oil carrier.
Thermal joint compounds may be thinned with standard solvents such lacquer thinner to reduce their viscosity to a desired consistency.
Thermaltake Blue Orb Looks like a good price www.nerdsbyte.com/mall/vidcool.asp (http://www.nerdsbyte.com/mall/vidcool.asp)
