After all the conversations with you guy's i've had, concerning OC the new 2.2a P4 I bought, I've run yet into another **** problem..the core voltage.
The 2.2a has a setting of 1.50, but my mobo only goes to 1.70...
Is this going to be a problem....
When reading my manual (mobo), they specificly stated that the board supported the northwood core (0.13) and provided freq. up to 2.4Ghz....
I've e-mailed both asus and intel support, but haven't received anything....
Anybody else have any idea's.....
Thanks

BIOS update? I bet there are two since your board left the factory doors.

The original bios was ver.1005
I visited asus's web and downloaded the new bios v.1009, but still haven't seen any changes in the settings.
Asus says any bios from 1007 to later supports the northwood 2.2Ghz
Intel has since e-mailed me back with the same suggestion of updating the bios, and said using 1.70v could result in damage...
Thanks

Let's talk about bios update and how to do it......if I even did it right!!!!
Asus has a program/utility called update v3.28.06e.
It will tell you your current ver.(mine was 1005)and take you to there web-site for update. the update loaded 1009 and auto installed it....When i rebooted and returned the utility and checked on the ver. is said 1009. is this ok?
I know nothing about bios updates/upgrades, but what i have read said things like flash this or that and to make copies of this and that stuff, which i didn't......
Articles say to to do this but the download didn't...
Any thoughts....
Thanks

If the BIOS splash screen displays ver. 1009, the flash was successful. Now you should use the "Clear CMOS" jumper. Unplug the box and set the jumper for about 10 seconds. It wouldn't hurt to remove the battery too.
Check again afterward.
