How do you keep your mice clean?

I use a small pencil eraser, it takes the gunk off and doesn't scratch the plastic rollers, then give in a little shot of air to get the chunks out of the body.

LoL Scotter, Thats how I clean my keyboard ... No Joke! Of coarse its only like once a year and I do take out all the insides first. It all came from the time I was CUI "computing under the influence" 12ozs of Molson and keyboards dont mix very well. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Thinking the keyboard was junk especialy with the screaching noise,I decided to see if I could fix it. After carefully cleaning all the layers of lamanent its still working great 2yrs later.

My suggestion would be to get an optical mouse. I used to have to clean the ball on the mouse every month and still wasn't ike new. Since I bought an optical mouse a year ago or so, it has been working as precisely as the first day I got it! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Got tired of cleaning them, and got a Trackman Marble about 4 years ago. Clean it once a year (the ball) with a little dish soap and water, and the lens and slides with a soft cloth. Just ordered in a cordless Trackman Marble Wheel mouse to go with my cordless iTouch keyboard....now if they'd only make a cordless joystick!!

Well this thread inspired me to do a thorough cleaning in there. I used a bit of scraping with the edge of a nail file the kind attached to clippers. My mouse is usually scraped out by anything small enough to fit in there. Then to get the chuncks out i swing it above my head like a cowboy. worked pretty good till i started to swing it and someone walked right into it

Im presently using a Logitech cordless trackball, ive used Logitrackballs for years, this one has no ability to take it apart to clean it like the previous corded models??? So far it hasnt been an issue...

I use q-tips and a little alcohol.
Since I started to use a piece of textured counter top, I don't have to clean very often. 1 time in 2 months now and it didn't need it. The arbourite is easy to clean up. Usually just brush it off with the hand. not like a mouse pad. That is what gets your mouse dirty.

I used to clean my mouse all the time before switching to optical.

What i used to do is use a pair of tweesers and just gank that schtuff out of there.. and don't forget to wash the ball too.. usually that can collect oil and dirt also. I just toss it in some hot water with some soap.. dry and toss it back in the mouse.. works good..

Just pop the eraser end of a pencil into the hole underneath the trackball of the mouse and give a little push. The ball comes out easily, and you've got full access to the lens and slides.

I use the BioLink UMatch Mouse and when it starts to have tracking problems, I use my finger nail and air. For the scanner window, scotch tape does the trick! Of course I do clean the mouse pad about once a month.

P.S. Have to clean the scanner window more often since the kids and anybody that sees it has to try it out, dirty, sticky fingers and all.
