LiLRiceBoi 12-11-2000, 07:47 PM i clean it about once a month or so. i use q-tips and a little alcohol nunyadam 12-11-2000, 07:48 PM i use q-tip's and alcohol. scotter 12-11-2000, 08:02 PM I stick it in the sink and wash it with dawn http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif rinse well and blow dry http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif flash4master 12-11-2000, 08:05 PM i used to scrape the junk off of the insides about every other day.....i finally got an optical mouse instead randy48 12-11-2000, 08:18 PM I use a small pencil eraser, it takes the gunk off and doesn't scratch the plastic rollers, then give in a little shot of air to get the chunks out of the body. DemonKnight 12-11-2000, 08:25 PM I use a small bladed knife. jl123 12-11-2000, 08:28 PM I just get a new one each month. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif ~Joel Mykex 12-11-2000, 08:30 PM LoL Scotter, Thats how I clean my keyboard ... No Joke! Of coarse its only like once a year and I do take out all the insides first. It all came from the time I was CUI "computing under the influence" 12ozs of Molson and keyboards dont mix very well. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Thinking the keyboard was junk especialy with the screaching noise,I decided to see if I could fix it. After carefully cleaning all the layers of lamanent its still working great 2yrs later. Mykex 12-11-2000, 08:34 PM Ohh BTW mouse, yea alcohal Q-tips scrape with finger as needed, lather rinse repete http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif NDC 12-11-2000, 10:12 PM My suggestion would be to get an optical mouse. I used to have to clean the ball on the mouse every month and still wasn't ike new. Since I bought an optical mouse a year ago or so, it has been working as precisely as the first day I got it! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif M1pilot 12-11-2000, 10:50 PM Got tired of cleaning them, and got a Trackman Marble about 4 years ago. Clean it once a year (the ball) with a little dish soap and water, and the lens and slides with a soft cloth. Just ordered in a cordless Trackman Marble Wheel mouse to go with my cordless iTouch keyboard....now if they'd only make a cordless joystick!! -M1pilot [This message has been edited by M1pilot (edited 12-11-2000).] daveleau 12-11-2000, 11:28 PM My mouse cleans himself. Sits int eh corner and licks himself clean. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif I use optical mice. The ball mice at work, I clean with a pencil (to scrape the gook off. I also clean the ball with alcohol. (I am leaving that one alone...) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Dave Thud 12-12-2000, 02:21 AM I use my fingers. Stan 12-12-2000, 06:54 AM I ask my 2 cats... they clean it for me... Mykex 12-12-2000, 07:23 AM Well this thread inspired me to do a thorough cleaning in there. I used a bit of scraping with the edge of a nail file the kind attached to clippers. After that the alcohal and swabs and I had forgotten that it can be so smooth! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I guess after a while you dont remember that a moving mouse shouldnt make noise or feel like the mousepad is textured with pebbles. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif bdunn 12-12-2000, 07:55 AM I gave up and went with a trackball. Win_98 12-12-2000, 08:35 AM You could put your mouth in it and lick it all clean work pretty well for me. zskillz 12-12-2000, 10:02 AM hahahah... WIN98.. that's exactly what i was going to type... sometimes i spit in there first and shake it around, but nothing does the job like a good tongue cleaning! -Z Missing the point 12-12-2000, 03:44 PM I let my GF do that, she is an expert with licking them clean http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Thud 12-12-2000, 04:45 PM MTP- Good Lord, man! I take it she doesn't frequent Sysopt, huh? At least for your sake, I hope she doesn't! Missing the point 12-12-2000, 04:55 PM lol http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Rat 12-12-2000, 05:01 PM Nothin' like getting your girlfriend to lick mouse balls.... Rat... GroundZero3 12-12-2000, 05:43 PM LOL MTP!!! Hey M1pilot it seems you dodge in and out of the forum. haven't seen you in ages. Everything alright? My mouse is usually scraped out by anything small enough to fit in there. Then to get the chuncks out i swing it above my head like a cowboy. worked pretty good till i started to swing it and someone walked right into it JaYsin Missing the point 12-12-2000, 05:45 PM Yeah, I gotta get my GF to lick off da mouse balls almost every night! Dem things get dirty sometimes! thekingofpain 12-12-2000, 06:34 PM Im presently using a Logitech cordless trackball, ive used Logitrackballs for years, this one has no ability to take it apart to clean it like the previous corded models??? So far it hasnt been an issue... BFlurie 12-12-2000, 07:46 PM By feeding them to my snakes. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif Szech 12-12-2000, 07:54 PM I have an optical mouse. I pick it up, turn it over, and blow on the light area. M1pilot 12-13-2000, 12:47 AM GroundZero3........hey, everythings kewl, just the last few months have'nt left me a lot of time to play on the computer. Winter's a comin', so I'll be hangin' around a little more.....later. -M1pilot Warthog 12-13-2000, 05:15 AM I don't clean mine. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Been optical for almost a year now (Christmas). Warthog NDC 12-13-2000, 06:20 AM As I have mentioned above... If you don't want to hassle with cleaning the ball and want 400dpi plus resolution mouse, there is only one way to go! That is get an optical mouse! You won't regret you buying one. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Here is what I use on all my systems: http://www.panwest.co.kr/product/cyberplus.htm Beemer 12-13-2000, 08:42 AM I use q-tips and a little alcohol. Since I started to use a piece of textured counter top, I don't have to clean very often. 1 time in 2 months now and it didn't need it. The arbourite is easy to clean up. Usually just brush it off with the hand. not like a mouse pad. That is what gets your mouse dirty. <IMG SRC="http://www.geocities.com/a3a17013/sysopt_graphics/mouse.jpg" border=0> Cheers! Win_98 12-13-2000, 08:43 AM I only have to clean it once a month so it no big deal. scrape it either with my finger or use a screwdriver. LittleKing 12-13-2000, 09:17 AM I don't have to clean, I have optical. LK SPARKI1 12-13-2000, 10:49 AM i ve been optical since the first explorer came out over here (uk) mouse is great but i still clean the little plastic pads on the underneath to keep it gliding smoothly PickledOnion 12-13-2000, 11:37 AM Clean it?! I thought Windows was getting clogged up with all the downloads so I just fdisk'd and reformatted! No wonder the clean RAM progs didn't work.........LOL PO. HmC_RaNgEr 12-13-2000, 11:53 AM Bah....cleaning! Be a soldier! hehe Ranger. Ironforge 12-14-2000, 07:34 PM I used to clean my mouse all the time before switching to optical. What i used to do is use a pair of tweesers and just gank that schtuff out of there.. and don't forget to wash the ball too.. usually that can collect oil and dirt also. I just toss it in some hot water with some soap.. dry and toss it back in the mouse.. works good.. tweasers work good for when the gunk is on there good...used q-tips a little for the fine tuning http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif M1pilot 12-15-2000, 01:45 AM thekingofpain.......... "Im presently using a Logitech cordless trackball, ive used Logitrackballs for years, this one has no ability to take it apart to clean it like the previous corded models??? So far it hasnt been an issue..." Just pop the eraser end of a pencil into the hole underneath the trackball of the mouse and give a little push. The ball comes out easily, and you've got full access to the lens and slides. -M1pilot sharder8 12-16-2000, 01:56 PM I use the BioLink UMatch Mouse and when it starts to have tracking problems, I use my finger nail and air. For the scanner window, scotch tape does the trick! Of course I do clean the mouse pad about once a month. P.S. Have to clean the scanner window more often since the kids and anybody that sees it has to try it out, dirty, sticky fingers and all. SysOpt.com
